Proving that technology and fashion are inextricably linked, the Huawei P9 smartphone is the stylish woman's accessory of choice
Although I have a very distinct aesthetic and style, I've always opted to push the boundaries of what's possible, especially on this website. From incorporating illustrations of clothing I covet into a shoot to creating a mystical world based on a much-loved tale, the technological innovations available to me — to us! — have allowed me to bring my conceptual ideas to life.
So when Huawei (pronounced 'wow-way' hence the title of this post ;) Mobile announced the latest photographic technology that would be a part of their new flagship smartphone, the P9, I was skeptical. How could this device suddenly change the way I see the world (that's their catchphrase, by the way)? Sure, my smartphone is always by my side and I use the camera constantly — from taking selfies and Instagramming yummy food pics to Snapping my latest fashion purchases and shopping online — but how much better could their technology really be? Turns out, by partnering with German optics aficionados Leica to produce a dual lens that shoots in both black and white and colour, the Huawei P9 smartphone is good enough to shoot an entire webitorial — live and with instant results.
If you've been following my social media, you'd know that a couple of weeks ago I announced I would be doing a live photo shoot on Snapchat — featuring and shot on the Huawei P9. These images are the result of that shoot. What I love most about the images are that they are of equal quality to what you usually see on my site, albeit shot in a very different manner and on a very different device. With the P9, I was able to take my concept of a live shoot and do it in a unique way, utilising the mediums of photography, video and social media we've come to love and rely on. And best of all? I can take these types of amazing images with a device that's always close at hand — and small enough to fit in my purse!
